My poems are dreams.
Each one a memory,
A vision,
A desire.
Incantations woven in smoky spirals,
Incense and illumination.
The tenderness of secret skin,
The gentle breath of fervent sighs,
The radiance of love electric,
The deepest depths of inner caverns –
All of this I sing to you
In falling rain,
Rolling tide,
Paper and ink,
Candlelit eyes.
TENDRILS
I breathe in deeply
A low fire slowly warms my insides
I feel the heat unfurl and fill me
Time stops
Gradually my true vision restores
Curious and calm, I observe
Like a silken web bejeweled with liquid crystal
All of time and space are spread out before me
I behold in quiet wonder
My song escapes in shimmering tendrils
Perfumed offerings to the universe
From within my living temple
STILLNESS
All that you seek is found in stillness
Let the gentle waves ebb and flow inside you
Sink with blissful acceptance into the sweet water
Be one with the breath
One with the pulse
One with the rhythm of life
Unfurl, open, surrender
Overflow into the ocean of ecstasy that surrounds you
Let this radiant energy fill and fill and fill you up
You are peace and pleasure
You are comfort and joy
You are form and void
You are everything
DIVINITY
Ancient one
Rest in the secret cells of your divinity
With every breath
The ocean swells
With every sigh
The forest sways
Your heartthrobs echo
Humming through mountains of stone
Far beyond the terrestrial
A new world awaits
The true garment of omnipotence
Now slip into your skin
I AM
What am I?
This flesh; these eyes?
Am I the teardrop and the heartache?
Am I the morning dew and the birdsong?
What am I?
This hair; these bones?
Am I the grinding teeth and the suffering?
Am I the rush of wind during the evening storm?
What am I?
This blood; these memories?
Am I the carcass alive with sensation?
Am I the sunlight-dappled wood,
The silver-singing mountain stream,
The petals revealing arcane perfumes,
The foam-skirted tides licking moonlit shores?
What am I?
This vessel; these visions?
Am I the word that makes life in the force of its utterance,
Filling the space and the sky and the sea
With my song?
I am not this memory;
I am not this mind;
I am not this fragile body.
I am not yesterday;
I am not tomorrow;
I am not reflections and dreams.
Look to the heavens and you will find me,
Blazing and ephemeral.
Sink to the depths of ancient waters;
Seek out my truest form.
I am the salt of the earth;
I am dappled sunlight;
I am the four winds dancing through the trees.
Fearfully crafted am I
In birdsong and blood;
Morning mist and whispers;
Shadow and sorrow –
Ecstasy and anguish ever balanced
In the breath of life made manifest.
I am totality;
I am void;
I am this moment:
Ethereal and eternal.
DEPTHS
From the darkest depths
I emerge
In the inkblack crushing space
Where I am the sole illumination
Within this endless night
Ascending to the surface
Rolling tides carry me ashore
Black then white
Red then yellow
Green and blue
All dazzling me
This is a time of transformation
The alchemy of flesh and spirit
Smooth and shimmering
I cloak my true form
In the vestments of earthly paradise
But deep inside I know
From whence I came
To whence I must go
When all that remains
Is my eternal light
SANCTUM
A million atoms rest breathless
Poised on the crystal dew
Beading my lashes
A million planets move ageless
Slowly spinning in the river
Flowing through my veins
A million suns burn endless
Explosions igniting
My innermost core
Silken tapestry of starlight,
Impassioned sea at full tide
Haunting moon that wears my skin
The galaxy is cradled in my sanctum
ELEMENTAL
The tides flow through me
The birds sing with me
And all the lives that have passed to the ethereal reside deep within me
My flesh is adorned with the runes of wind and sun
I synthesize, I summon, I sing, I surrender
In my blood courses the ancient streams of all existence
Interplay of spirit, intention, form
WITHIN
I fold in
Return to center
Here is the source of light
Deep within
Radiating
Here is the fount of truth
Deep within
Shimmering
Here is love
Creator
Conduit
Cradle
From this sacred core
I open
Outpouring
Regenerating
HEARTSONG
Sacred speech forms and gathers
Like precious stones on my tongue
My lips part softly
And a silver stream waterfalls
Into existence
Shimmering in jeweltone
And pulsing with purpose
The current swirls and contains me
In the eddy of ancient wisdom
Coursing bloodwarm in the rich capillaries of the earth
My electric heartsong pulses and flows
Fusing and filling all life eternal
KNOW
To know the hidden names of all living creatures
To hold this secret close
Deep in my heart
To trace every ripple on the water
And every flower petal on the wind
To read the secret song of leaves
Where the sunbeam strikes a note
Showering all life with golden rays of harmony
To see the trail concealed in sky
Where the birds float and dance and soar
To feel the rhythm and connection
Of all life through all time
Grant me this perfect wisdom
As I strive to unite mind, body, and soul
With the infinite tapestry of creation
REVERIE
A wind from another time
A breath from a distant memory
Stirs and enchants me
Cradled in reverie
I am throbbing in waves
My eyes smolder heavylidded
Searching for the dazzle and dim
The dance of shadow and celestial
My teeth grind unsatisfied
Begging for the taste of saltgrit sea
And the quicksilver of sparkling streams
My bones ache in their fleshprison
Stretching toward the source of their hunger
Longing deep in their ancient marrow to return
To rejoin the earth
To connect with the rambling root of underground
As the artery system of the world
Interweaves with my inner workings
Mapping all of existence in this labyrinthine flow of life
LONGING
Restless
Questing
Aching for freedom from the confines of flesh
The hawks float and dive and soar
Weightless
Effortless
Serene
How I long to join them
My chest pulls with the desire
To be a shadow
Borne on the breeze
An inky rippling against crisp blue and dazzling white
To be free
SOL
Your fire beams down
A beacon
Blazing glory ripples in brilliant refractions of glittering light
Shining forth in all of nature
You dazzle me with the richest hues
Glorious and bright and pure
I revel in you
Here in this sacred fusion of fire and flesh
We find each other and rejoice
Spirit manifest in luminous halos
BOND
We are bound in this infinite coil
Here in the tireless cycle of
Everything and nothing
We are the lotus that blooms in moonlight
We are the life that grows from decay
We are the gasp of electric climax
We are the final dying breath
We are sound and stillness
We are sunbeam and shadow
We are paradise and we are void
Inside our deepest selves
Muscle memory
Eternal spiral
We are flesh and spirit
We are stone and sky
We consecrate our death each breathless night
To be reborn in harmony with the glory of the dawn
And so the circle is complete
In this eternal bond
THE LIGHT
Galaxies erupt across the landscape of inner vision,
Rocketing molton-fire up into the pitch,
Burning bloodred light amid explosions of
Brilliant blues and greens
And shattered diamonds of blinding white.
A canopy of light becomes the firmament,
Constellations of crystal flames
Forming symbols and patterns beyond reckoning,
Holy designs stitched in pulsing webs
Flung across the crushing black.
A prickling all over.
A tingling.
Tiny germinations of light flicker into existence,
Sparkling in refractions
Like the light scattered in countless prisms
On the face of open water.
Mirrors of light, crystals, orbs aglow and glimmering,
Shards and flecks and radiant beams of glittering golden light.
The light is raining down upon me now
In a shimmering golden mist.
It clings like cobwebs,
Strands of electric gold.
All around and over me,
The crackling and popping of energy;
The buzzing aliveness of light.
The light is inside of me now,
Coursing through the superhighway of circulation.
My blood is fire;
My eyes aflame;
My flesh a blinding radiance of
Heat upon heat upon heat.
The brilliance envelops me now
In a crushing aura of intense hues.
There is nothing but the light.
The amber and violet and blue
And gold of flame;
The ferocity of blinding white.
In a final heaving swell,
I am consumed;
Completed.
There is nothing but the light.
